Please support the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts

Yeah, it's not like hurricanes happen predictably in the same regions during a specific time period and usually require the state's National Guard to help in the aftermath. oh, wait -- Yes they do!

It's not as if two months ago the National Assoc of Governors complained to the Pentagon that all thier disaster relief people were being pulled away to Iraq -- oh, wait -- Yes they Did!

When the wildfires in Montana happen again this year (as they always do) and the Governor hasn't gotten back his own state's resources that he's already requested (and was denied), what do we tell the people whose houses burn down (and potentially die)? "Oops, who could see this coming?"

This has nothing to do with Iraq and everything to do with easily forseeable disasters that we are well aware of. The National Guard is supposed to "Guard" our "Nation" -- why are they halfway around the world? Thank God the Coast Guard is still guarding our coast and not off being the "US Navy, part II".

Well, if you're going to play the blame game, it's not like scientists weren't warning New Orleans officials for YEARS that their levee and pump system was antiquated and inadequate to a cat 4 or 5 hurricane.
