Use iPhoto 5's Get Info panel to manage keywords

this must be one of the rare instances where my intuitive notion of how the program should work aligns with apple's.

i understand the need to post hints occasionally to point out apple's "unique" decision for implementing a function. but, in this case i am at a loss for how else keywording is even possible.

AFAIK, preferences is for defining keywords; get-info is for assigning them; and the "lower left area" is for querying based upon assigned keywords.

while i agree that it would be nice to have a single area to manage the definitions, assignments and queries, in practice i find i rarely need to perform all 3 at once.

the original poster seemed to indicate that he was getting the job done, but it was vastly more difficult his way. i cannot even see how to manage keywords except by use of the 'hint'.

someone please show me the 'hard way'

To answer cudaboy, as allanmarcus' post above says, you can also assign keywords by dragging them on top of the keywords in the lower-left section. I did it this way in iPhoto 5 for a long time until I found the Get Info, which is much faster. You can get the floating Get Info palette closer to your photos, plus it simply responds faster than dragging, say, 20 photos over the lower-left panel keywords.
