Don't use FTP with streamload

Streamload is really good because it's an improvement over FTP. They use a proprietary protocol similar to rsync so that only modified files are uploaded and you can even back up your mp3's because if any other streamload user has uploaded the same file it is instantanious.

So, don't tar and gzip you files first. Just point it at your home directory and use the perl upload program. I have added some very useful features to the Perl upload program. You can get my version at:

there is also sldown.rb, a streamload downloader (cause it uses it's own protocol for that too)

Has anyone had any success using the perl program to upload recursive folders with the -r command? When I do it, it doesn't recognize any folders with a space in the name, even if I enclose the directory name with quotes.
