10.4: Create multi-line annotations in Preview
Hmmm...I wonder if this is more widespread than just Preview. I found the same problem when trying to add multiple lines of Genre's in Delicious Library. Option came to the rescue then also.

Yep, it's fairly standard, as adrianm mentioned... once you know it is. :-)
How to make more of these relatively simple things more widespread so they're easier for everyone to find and learn was the main point of my earlier rant. For example, I can't count the times I've wanted to say "check out 'keyboard and mouse shortcuts' under the Help menu" to provide someone with basic self-help info or to obtain that info for myself. Final thoughts: Maybe if Apple were to seriously pitch that idea at the Developers Conference it would start catching on. And they could certainly be adding it to more of their own apps, too. Heck, we already explicitly see some shortcuts after their actions under menu bar menus. Just tell us the rest of 'em already. :-)
