Automatically size Finder columns to show all content works as well.
If you double click on the column handle in the Finder it will automaitcally resize it. I am not sure when this functionality was added but I just tried it on 10.4.2 and it worked without a hitch. I tried this on Mail as well which also worked. First time it resizes to fit all info, the second time it resizes for just the first level of folders.

THAT is the most delightful hint I've gotten in months! Why don't I think to try these things? I will use it probably every hour of every day. Thank you!!

Double-clicking in Finder windows works on Panther in the Column View but not in the List View.

So where do you click, in Panther, in Column view? In case that wasn't clear, it's the little column resize thingy, lower right of each column, that looks like an equal sign turned on its side. |
