Try this for a scenario... Maybe someone (other than yourself) uses dashboard extensively. Now consider that some widgets do funny things like updating files in the background - even when you're not using dashboard.

Try to imagine a person who backs up their Library folder to CD/DVD. What happens when a file size changes after a file has been burnt' but before it's validated the burn? That's right! The burn fails!

So, considering that, maybe a user *might* want to disable dashboard. What do you think eh?
