Using Pref Setter you can change the value for the Key "EmbedColorProfile" from NO to YES. I haven't run any tests to see if that really allows your color profile of choice to truly get embedded but you can change it and test it out.

So there is a hidden prefs setting? Why did Apple never enable it? Do they think we are too silly to use ColorSync profiles in an i-App?

I Just made a test with latest iPhoto on latest OSX.

iPhoto still does not embed a profile into images imported from my camera. It doesn't embed a profile into images exported either.

So I don't really know what that preference setting does.
