10.4: Avoid a Spotlight Command-F search issue

Maybe I'm missing something here, but it seems to me the easiest way to accomplish searching a specific folder is to navigate to the folder you wish to search, then just type your search term in the search field of that folder's window - forget command-f.

You may have to "train" the finder to do this on an ongoing basis. The first time you navigate to a folder and type something in the search field, it might still default to "computer" or "home," but instead of "other" you should see the name of the folder your navigated to. Select that name, and forevermore when you navigate to a specific folder and type something into the search field, the search should default to the folder you've selected.
