Bonjour is much better

Coincidentally, I did exactly the opposite of what this hint suggested and gave up netbios names altogether, even with my windows boxes. I did this by installing Bonjour on my Windows machines. Bjonuour is a much more reliable protocol than netbios, mainly because its name resolution is instantaneous wheras netbios caches information. I access my netbios shares (and all other services) on all of my boxes by their Bonjour names, such as smb://ibm-a30.local/ from my powerbook, or \\aravis.local from my thinkpad. This has worked *MUCH* better for me than netbios, which is awesome for the constantly changing networks in my line of work.
