doesn't work here (on a T5 I must say), the Palm tells me that "the port is used by another app" :-(

Got that a lot on my Tungsten T with D-Link DBT-120 adapter. It's been discussed on a few forums - Palm tech support, Treocentral, with no definitive fix.

Try deleting the Bluetooth serial port and deleting com.palm preferences as described above. Soft reset the Palm and restart your computer. Then recreate the serial port and set up HotSync Manager (also as above). Give it another go and see what you get.

Usually what fixes it for me is to just keep trying over and over, eventually something will come out differently and it'll work. Wish I could be of more help...

I had the same problem with my T5 after trying the described hint; I skipped the part with disabling HotSync and the Prefs. So, After disabling HotSync, deleting the com.Palm - Prefs in that Preferences/ByHost - folder and enabling the BT-Port again (I didn`t delete it, it automatically got unchecked in HotSync Manager), all goes well here.

Syncing via Bluetooth is also an issue on the Zire 72. I'll try the fix tonight when I get home to my Imac.

After a lot of troubleshooting with this to no avail, I found something that seems to work. In addition to the aforementioned steps, I restarted the blued daemon at the command line. Use this:

sudo killall -HUP blued
I also disabled HotSync, trashed the ByHost/com.palm.* prefs, enabled the Bluetooth-PDA-Sync-Port in HotSync Manager, and reenabled HotSync. This ended up working for me. Unfortunately, since I have a removable D-Link BT adapter, it seems as though I have to do this every time I restart. Unbelievably annoying. I'd consider this a Bad Thing (tm).

Try this: Follow the instructions from jzdziarski's post but before you intiate a HotSync, go to the Bluetooth Send File... menu item (or Bluetooth File Exchange utility) and send a small jpg or something. After the transfer, try your HotSync.

I have had the problems described and spent a LOT of time on the phone with Apple (the specialist ultimately referenced this post) but reverted to the same problems again after a Palm reset. I duplicated the steps that had already worked once but to no avail. Finally, I tried the Send File... step first and, walla! It's all working agian. Maybe the Send File... port "blesses" the connection somehow?
