Fix a group issue with Logitech's 1.5 drivers
Mine is a MX 510 mouse and I have the problem of losing the mouse tracking every time I reboot. Unfortunately, this hint isn't helpful to me because the driver is already set to wheel. Logitech support admitted to me that it was their driver's fault and I should wait for the next version (which hasn't been forthcoming). Any help for this?

I also had the tracking issue with my MouseMan Cordless Optical. Logitech's support said something was corrupting the driver. I thought it was my Wacom tablet's driver. Whenever I ran PreferentialTreatment it said the Logitech's preferences were corrupt so I'd trash them, reboot and reset the tracking speed - what a pain. The only fix that's worked for me is I downloaded USB Overdrive. Absolutely no issues afterward. Highly recommended.

Of course you can also uninstall the driver and use Expose and Keyboard & Mouse Preferences to control the mouse - which is somewhat limiting, but it works.
of course it should be sudo chown -R....
sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/LogitechUSBHIDevices.kext |
