When viewing a site's certificate, you can drag the large certificate icon to your desktop, which will create a file containing that certificate.

If you hold the option key down while dragging, the certificate gets saved in an alternate format (ASCII-safe '.pem' instead of binary '.cer').

Also, try dragging the certificate icon into a text document, with & without the option key down...
