10.4: Make 24-hour time work in iCal
Does anybody know how to customize number format in Tiger? I use canadian (or french) date and time format. But I need US number format (decimal separator being a "." and not a "," ) when I use Quicken 2005 for Portfolio.

I have the same problem:

This is an incredibly annoying glitch that is causing a lot of problems for people, especially in Europe, but there is an easy fix for it. The short explanation is to delete the localization.prefPane from 10.4 or 10.4.1 and replace it with the 10.3.9 version, and you will once again have the ability to set the system-wide formatting for date, time, and currency. I originally posted this to the Apple Discussions boards, but a more detailed how-to can be found on my site, if needed.
I won't bother commenting on just how stupid a mistake this is, but it should have been plainly obvious to Apple that this function didn't work correctly. They appear to be going on the assumption that everyone will be happy with their default locale settings. As an American living overseas, I've adopted the dd/mm/yy date settings that the rest of the world uses, and have always preferred the 24-hour clock, so this was one of the first things that I noticed when I installed 10.4.

I am not sure about how Quicken responds, but you can change the / to . in System Preferences>International>Format by just highlighting the / in the date pane and typing a "." This works for Finder date displays but I don't know if other apps will also use it. |
