10.4: Disable some annoying Tiger sound effects

Hey all,

Something strange is goin' on here. The 'Volume Mount' sound located in the 'system' folder does not play when a volume is mounted, IE, Disk Image. Instead, that sound is played when I undo a move in the Finder. IE: Move a folder to the Trash can and then choose 'Undo'

The 'Move to trash' sound located in the 'finder' folder never plays. The sound which is played when I do move a file to the trash is the 'drag to trash' sound located in the 'dock' folder. That's a shame cause I actually like the 'move to trash' sound.

Another sound that I never heard is the 'Volume Unmount' sound located in the 'system' folder.

What is goin' on here?

Same thing here. Not "mount" or "unmount" volume sound effect, no "move to trash.aif" played.
Anyone 's got those being played ?
Thanks !

Geje : Do you at least have the 'mount volume' sound being played when you undo from within the Finder? Use the example I mentioned to see if the sound is played!

Yes I do, when undoing a trash operation for example. Do you have every sound ?

TinkerTool and other such apps may disable Finder soundz by default when they are implemented. Open up TinkerTool, or get it (free -worth it, too), and uncheck the "disable sound effects" box under the Finder heading. Relaunch the Finder and have fun getting startled every time the Finder gets the beachball, or you're playing with large filez.

I get the horrible "Volume Mount" sound whenever I move or copy ANY file! I'm surprised nobody's mentioned it - surely it can't just be me...?

And yes, I did rename the Volume Mount sound to ".org" to disable it. Yet still it haunts me. Any idea where else this sound is embedded? Make it stop! Arrrrghghghgh...
