10.4: Show path to the Finder's Toolbar items

Doesn't seem to work for me either, but I added a 'Path' button in my Finder windows (from View > Customize Toolbar) so I don't have to hold the Command-key anymore.
Works much better for novice users as well, one less hidden key-combination to learn...

It doesn't seem to be a "hidden key combination" since you know that you can hold the command and click the folder in the window. Besides, that command-click thing works in Safari too...: click on the titel of the webpage at the top of Safari and you'll get all "subdirectories" of that webpage.

Doesn't work also for me, but if you want the Path, you can also clic the Little icon in the topbar of a finder windows while pressing the command (apple ) key. This tip work also in Safari to know where U are in the Website.

I think this works in Panther too.
