10.4: Add more zip codes to Yahoo Local Traffic widget
Someone can double-check me on this, but when I tried this it appears to only show traffic info for the second zip code entered (space or no space made no difference). My work zip showed 2 traffic warnings, my home zip showed none. Adding the home zip as the second one entered (both with and without a space after the comma) showed no warnings as well.
10.4: Add more zip codes to Yahoo Local Traffic widget
As far as I can tell, it will only get the info for the *last* zipcode. Here is the URL that it uses, and you can test it in Safari (adjusting the zipcodes as appropriate):
feed://maps.yahoo.com/traffic.rss?csz=97201&mag=4&minsev=1 The relevant pieces are the csz= which is where you set the zip codes. mag= which is the "report conditions within " miles. As far as the widget is concerned 3 = four miles, 4 = 10 miles, and 5 = 40 miles. I tried using 8, and I got traffic incidents as far as Denver (from Portland Oregon). I don't know what the mileage settings are for any other numbers - you can play with this. minsev= is the Minimum Severity, 1 being monor, 2 moderate, and 3 major. Trying feed://maps.yahoo.com/traffic.rss?csz=97201,87124&mag=4&minsev=1 only shows the last zipcode: Rio Rancho, NM - and nothing from the first: Portland, OR. This is true no matter how many zip codes I provide... |
