Get notification of new Mail messages in 10.4
I liked GrowlMail but since the update to 0.7 I began to have problems with Mail crashing. Growl also seems to generate a file for every notification (just check out your Recent Items under the Apple menu after receiving a bunch of messages). I liked the idea of seeing my messages like Entourage, but if you have more than 5 or 6 messages it politely says something like "And 15 others" instead of displaying every last message.
Get notification of new Mail messages in 10.4
as I said in another comment, most of the crashes that have been reported to us (did you report yours?) have been caused by other plug-ins not liking GrowlMail's presence. GrowlMail by itself rarely crashes.
those are actually registrations, not notifications. we fixed this in the 0.7 framework, so any applications that are still not deleting these files are either still using the old framework or are out of date on your system. you can read the files in your favourite text editor to see which application(s) are generating them. they're not stored permanently, however; they're in /tmp, so they'll be deleted when you shut down.
'Summary mode', as we call that, can be turned off in GrowlMail's preferences (which are in Mail preferences). |
