10.4: rsync 'inplace' option separates resource forks

the current version of rsync that ships with Tiger fails everytime I try to use it or copies all resources on every run even when I file has not changed.

I have a bug report files with apple but have heard nothing back from them.

Just to confirm with jmdevaney, the current version of rsync (Tiger 10.4.1) also fails (segmentation fault) for me. It seems to run ok for small chunks of a file structure, but if I try to use it to clone / it falls over part way through generating the file catalogue. I'd recommend installing RsyncX for now; works very well and is reliable. I think access lists are the only new Tiger feature it's missing, and you're unlikely to bump into those unless your running server or have set up funky permissions yourself.

Yes it always results in a bus error whenever using --extended-attributes

I'm surprised Apple hasn't addressed this yet. It's quite annoying to not
be able to use rsync to back up metadata.
