10.4: Install Tiger from an iPod
If only there was a way to do this and keep the iPod working as an iPod. I'd love to have my iPod be a Tiger Installer, and also be an iPod.
10.4: Install Tiger onto an iPod
I didn't have any trouble installing Tiger on my iPod, and it still works fine in its typical music player and disk mode usage as well. Yet another reason why an iPod can be handy - emergency bootup disk. Just don't wipe the normal iPod format/software off of it beforehand and you should be fine. I used the lastest iPod Updater to clear out the prev Panther install I had on it by restoring it to factory condition, then went ahead and booted off the Install DVD, pointed it at the iPod, and off it went.
Gack!
Though... using the iPod as an Installer for Tiger itself... not so sure about that. You could always give it a try - worst case, time down the drain and a reformat followed by restore due for your iPod.
