For those like me who only used Adobe Reader for reading pdf documents (and no fancy editing etc), Preview is lot (I mean LOT) slick, snappier and faster.

But you can also get rid of many extra features of Adobe Reader before you download it from Adobe webpage. For example I never needed to use the following features of the full version.

* Markup, search, and save Adobe PDF files (requires Adobe Acrobat)
* Play back embedded movies, animation and sound
* Activate accessibility features built into PDF files
* View Adobe Photoshop® Album slide shows and electronic cards
* Read and organize digital editions (formerly eBooks)

Deselecting these options makes the download drop from 20MB to 14MB. In my experience, this stripped down Adobe Reader is faster than the regular ones. Your milage may vary.
