hint does not work for rme

I've now added a note to the original hint, based on your comment -- I had verified this issue with three other users, and they all confirmed the issue and fix.

However, in doing some more testing, I figured out the problem, which is now noted in the hint...

hint does not work for rme

I have a different result. Being in Column view and having "open in new window" deselected, when I select the Pictures folder and hit Command-F, the bar for me is "Servers, Computer(selected), Home, Folder"Pictures" and Others. The Computer tab is selected, not the Pictures folder.

Live and Direct, only from
Network 23

hint does not work for rme

This is so inconsistent (especially with the view type difference) I'd call it a bug. Has anyone paid a visit to to tell the devs about this? I would, but I'm not yet up and running on Tiger.

Of course, most of the Finder is an inconsistency bug at this point... but don't include that in your report. Reminds me of what John Siracusa said in his review of Tiger on Ars Technica (

The first time I saw the new Mail toolbar, I filed a bug on it. (Radar 3968093: "Toolbar buttons in Mail 2.0 are hideously ugly.") It was immediately closed as a duplicate, so at least one other person agrees with me.

inconsistent behaviour
Authored by: SOX on May 26, '05 12:38:03PM

I have two different computers and they behave differently with respect to this.
On one of them the hint did not work immediately, but after the first search the selected folder did start appearing in the list of places to search. However it was never selected by default. it always selected "computer".

On the other computer this works perfectly. it always shows and default selects the folder I was cuyrrently viewing or had selected. It works regardless of icon view, column view.

highly inconsistent and no obvious origin
