Why not use Automator?

Simply set up a quick workflow which ask for a folder, gets the contents of that folder, and renames the folder with the year in front of the text. Three actions is all it needs, and the spotlight comments are retained (I just tested that to make sure).

This really is the easiest way to do it, I think. I've tried several file renaming programs, and each one has been deficient in some way to me. With Automator, I just made my own file renamers and saved them as Finder Plugins. I'm no programmer, and it was very easy to do. Now I just Control-Click on whatever I want to rename and select "Rename Selected Items..." from the Automator submenu. The dialog box that comes up lets me manipulate the items just about any way I want to.
