10.4: Easily add the date to the menubar
Not only did this hack not work for me it also corrupted ical. iCal start showing times a w:13 am or things like in week view the times listed in the left were all sat am, sat pm no numerical data at all. Reseting my international prefs back to UK fixed ical. So I would not recommend this hack. It was obviously not fully tested before it was published.

I finally got it to work, and then read your post and found the iCal problem you described. What a bummer, I've always wanted the date to show in the menubar clock! I'll have to check out some of those third party solutions.
10.4: Easily add the date to the menubar
MacAddict has a method to do it through Terminal, page 56 of the March 2006 issue, but I had trouble getting it to recognize my input. Perhaps this was due to exact spacing and punctuation, I hate it when they give command inputs in short lines like that and don't indicate if there's a space or return between the end of one line and the start of the next. At any rate, figured it might have the same iCal problem and for now will abandon the attempt.

Thanks for this comment, I had just installed the change and observed exactly what you describe. Removed it quickly, try again another time. |
