You could do this in earlier versions of Safari as well. You just had to press Command-F to bring up a search box. Not as good I admit, but the capability was still there.

But what I really want to see, is the ability to search the contents of pages in my History. I often find myself looking for a particular page I saw earlier, but one that I cannot for the life o me remeber what website it was on. Not only this, but what text I do remember is probably not present in the title of the paage or its web address.

A specialist Spotlight importer could be used to only save the text of the web sites you visit, thereby enabling a Spotlight style search of the contents of all the web pages you've looked at in say the last week.
