Thanks, those are great instructions, but just to be clear -- all I need to do is insert that one line? (I'm probably the most ignorant person here -- could somebody say exactly what text needs to pasted, and exactly where in that file?)

I take it back. I am lost at Step 5. Navigating through the subfolders (there are no colons involved) reveals two or three files ending with .plist, but none of them refer to the v710 or anything else that seems germane to this thread. I'm obviously not finding the right file. What is its name?

My apologies for posting without working this through. I now see that in the original instructions, "/Applications: iSync.app: Contents: PlugIns: ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice: Contents: PlugIns: PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin: Contents: Resources: MetaClasses.plist" refers to the directory structure under iSync Package Contents. So the file to be edited is MetaClasses.plist. I edited it by replacing that single line referring to usb, and my phone is syncing (I hope) as I type. Thanks everybody, and again, apologies for going off half-cocked.

Thanks for the very clear, easy-to-follow-for-the-rest-of-us instructions... There is so much more to the Mac OS than I ever knew, and I'm so glad I don't have to learn it all myself! My v710 has been the bane of my existence, and now there is a ray of hope! |
