That works. Interestingly though that clock is a second behind the true system time... The Dashboard clocks are a bit more up to date, as are programs like Calendarclock.

I see the same time as date. Even my dashboard time clicks at the same time. I have network time on and a 24 hour clock set up as such:
M'/'d kk:mm:ss 
Date & Time is set to show day, seconds, and 24 hour clock. , I can keep running date in the terminal right next to the current time and it ticks over at exactly the same time. This is great hint.
