10.4: See a list of completion words in Cocoa apps

This doesn't work for me in Mail but it does work in TextEdit. Any thoughts why it might not work?

It seems that it uses the language related to the settings selected in Format menu (System Preferences -> International), rather than the one in the top position in the Language tab. Weird... So, if you have format settings for a language that doesn't have a dictionary built-in in OS X (or the word you typed does not match any words in the dictionary), pressing ESC or OPTION+ESC won't show the list of possible words. The choosen keyboard layout also seems to make any difference in the word list.

Cheers

Bizarrely enough I get the exact opposite behaviour. Works in Mail, not in TextEdit. The other reply to this comment didn't help.

I think that there is a bug in Mail 2.0.1 with this.
Indeed, it was working since 10.3 but somehow, Mail 2.0.1 broke it.
You can workaround this bug by going to the previous letter in a word you want to complete. it will then work. It doesn't show up if you try to use it in the last letter of the word...
Extremely annoying.
