ADSL access without PPTP-GUI
Tao, you wrote:
However PPTP-GUI does not currently work when you do not have an internal modem in your Mac since it uses MacOS X's PPP stack which is only set up when a modem is detected.I'm not sure why you say this. It certainly is not true on my Quicksilver G4 which has no internal modem, but works perfectly well with PPTP-GUI (of course I use the current version: 2.1). That's not to say tweaking your Alcatel modem is a bad idea...

I've done the hack and it seems to work but when I try to connect to my ISP, it just says "trying" I let it try for 15 minutes or so. Nothing happens. I checked the settings a million times. Really, a million. The instructions said it could take some time to connect. Is there something else I need to do, or should I let it try for longer? Thanks a million.
