You could approximate that Firefox functionality with AcidSearch. Although not "officially" released for 10.4 yet, the author claims that it will run -- albeit somewhat buggy in parts. Hope it gets updated soon.

You can't separate the location bar and the google box in Safari 2.0.

The Google search box is tied to the address bar because Google paid Apple a bunch of money.

I noticed that in Interface Builder, when working with the hinted NIB. So how do we modify this thing in Interface Builder to ditch the Google box w/o losing the address bar?

Open ToolbarItems.nib > Open 'Toolbar items' under the 'Instances' tab > Double-click the google search bar to highlight it > Hit backspace > Save:-) |
