If the movie loads in the QuickTime application, do Command-I in QuickTime. An info panel shows up. Copy the URL that appears next to "Source." Open Safari's "Downloads" window and paste the URL you just copied from QuickTime and your movie will begin downloading.

I don't know if QuickTime Pro is required for this. I have it and it worked.

BTW this was using QT 7 on Tiger.
