It works fine for me. I think the trick is to just type the city name and hit Enter. Below the text box, it will say "Validating ..." and then show a list of cities if there are multiple matches.

I was disappointed when I couldn't figure out how to get weather from Non-US cities. Duh, hit enter. Awesome. :)

By the way, I couldn't get this to work with the original hint, but I could by just pressing enter.

yes, i live in padova, italy and all i have to do is to press enter key after typed "padova"

This "enter" thing worked beautifully for my location as well, Gifu, Japan.
I don't know why they couldn't have just put a "Validate" button on the window. But at least it works.
