10.4: Install Tiger via Target Disk Mode

This how I
- installed Tiger (Family Edition, mind you) on my iMac 17"/800 whose DVD player is broken
- installed Tiger on my Pismo whose DVD player was scavenged to equip my brother's grey clamshell iBook,
all this from a PowerBook Alu.

Works great.
So there is a way other than returning the DVD and asking for the CD against a nominal fee.
But you need another mac with DVD player ;-)

I'd advise those with only one machine and no DVD, to get the CDs though, as troubleshooting might require them in a future time.

I cannot get my G3 tower into Target Disc Mode... When I put my PowerBook in Target Disc Mode and connected it to my G3... the OSX icon shows up on my desktop, but when I try to click on it in my startup disc... it's grayed out and you can't click on it... very frustrating.. any ideas how I can get Tiger on my G3?

Please help!!!
