Well, I think Tiger is crap, only because it made Mail.app a non-functioning waste of space and obliterated all my past e-mails.

Wow, I think Mail.app 2 is one of the best IMAP clients I've used on any system. Much faster than Mail.app 1 which being more feature-rich.

Are you really admiting to us that you did not back up your mail library & prefs? And since it hasn't been fully released yet, then you're using a pre-release dev version yes? This prompts one to ask how you could get upset when you didn't backup and knowingly were using a pre-release. I do feel bad for your mail though. That sucks man.
