Omit photos with a given keyword in iPhoto 5
Nice! I had not noticed that before. I wish there were a way to permanently not display certain photos in the main library. Perhaps Apple could add a "do not display" or "hide this photo" keyword/flag that could cause certain photos to only appear in selected albums (or not at all).

Just create a smart album that excludes it.

In iTunes I use a SmartPlaylist to do something similar that could be applied to iPhoto. I never use iTunes default Library list as my main resource anymore. Since I've added radio stations to my library that won't allow you to change the genre, I've got all sorts of genres I don't want cluttering up the place. So I created a Library SmartPlaylist that grabs every song whose kind does not contain "stream" (since radio stations are streams). Then my SmartPlaylist library only has my stuff and my genres. I never even look at the iTunes default Library list anymore; my Library SmartPlaylist is what I consider my library. You could do the same thing with iPhoto and exclude the photos you don't want considered as part of your library.

Ok. The smart album solution works well. I did not consider this before. I made a keyword "Hide". I then made a smart album that includes all photos except those with the keyword "Hide". I made a second album that includes only those photos with the keyword "Hide". Thanks...

how about storing it in a different folder, it will be saved, and not show up in your iphoto library... I do this with my desktop pictures. |
