An easier way to use the iPod Shuffle in disk mode

If you use a Mac, you could place a (sparse, encrypted) disk image on the Shuffle to reserve some space on the Shuffle for data. The downside of this is that you likely won't be able to mount the disk image from other OSes.

A nice cross-platform solution for this is PGPDisk (http://www.pgp.com/products/desktop/personal/index.html)...and it's secure as well!
