yes, the mac os x setup assistant will most certainly be included with Tiger, just as it is currently included with Panther. To clarify: The Migration Assistant (the part which prompts you to transfer data from an old user account/computer to your new machine) is not a standard part of Panther's Setup Assistant (the part which prompts you to setup your first administrative account on your new machine). It has been included with the custom load of software included on most recent CPUs, but is not a part of the retail OS box for 10.3. For example, if you had an older computer, and upgraded to Panther via the boxed release, you would not get Migration Assistant. However, this changes with Tiger. The Migration Assistant is installed with the OS itself, and is a standard part of the Setup Assistant process under the new OS. It can also be run manually, if you missed your chance during Setup Assistant, by launching it from the /Appplications/Utilities area.

Our NetBoot server image was built from 10.3.5 retail disks, and it includes the Setup Assistant. I'd say it's a safe bet the Setup Assistant will be present in retail version of Tiger as well. |
