On the upcoming release of OS X 10.4 [Tiger]

Geez, it's said "System" for over five years, and nobody makes one comment ... and I add a "10.4" at the end, and it's the end of the world?

Since the entire site is about OS X, technically every hint should be placed in an "OS X" category. I created "System" to specify those hints which are intrinsic to the system itself.

If these icons are so upsetting to folks, someone is more than welcome to take a shot at some new ones -- I lack both the time and the talent to do so. Just keep in mind that there are 16 topics in three unique themes, so that's 48 icons total...

I'm sure you'll find someone with too much time on their hands if it's a real issue ;-)

OK so this is completely off topic, but I did'nt know where to post it so here it goes (feel completely free to remove it if necessary):

I love the Gray Lines theme, it's very cool and sleek, but I find the white background very distracting. In the Classic Theme the darker blue background focuses your view on the hints which makes it the default theme for me. Would you consider applying a darker background to the grey lines theme?

Only to stay on topic I will add that system 10.4 is okay by me... I don't know what all the fuzz is about...

My only doubt is that having only one mac at home (which I supose is the situation for most of the people) I wouldn't really know if a hint is System or System 10.4 related (unless it is something really obvious like spotlight).

So maybe the best way to go is to keep just one system category and award the "10.4 only" status after some user has tried it on an earlier version and proved it doesn't work. Maybe an automatically generated poll on each hint would do the trick...

Greetings

The idea is that the 10.4 category will only be applied to those hints that are clearly 10.4-only -- spotlight, automator, etc. If something might work on 10.3, I'll test it on both -- I'm going to keep a 10.3 box here just for that purpose for a bit.

As for a darker background, I could probably try that and see how it looks; I'll see if I can get to that next week...

I completely agree about the graylines theme... it would be nice to have a darker gray background, rather than the white.

Just getting there isn 't half the fun!

Perhaps if you moved the "10.4" in front of the "system" (possibly separating them with a colon) people might parse it a bit better and not freak out so much. It should be a fairly quick change too...
