On the upcoming release of OS X 10.4 [Tiger]
Yeah, "System" is confusing to visitors, since it is in no way referred to "System 10.4" by Apple (or, to my knowledge, the Mac community on the whole)... OSX 10.4 is probably the easiest (OSX 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4) and most accurate! Easier to identify visually, too - in a smaller space.

Geez, it's said "System" for over five years, and nobody makes one comment ... and I add a "10.4" at the end, and it's the end of the world?

I'm sure you'll find someone with too much time on their hands if it's a real issue ;-)

OK so this is completely off topic, but I did'nt know where to post it so here it goes (feel completely free to remove it if necessary):

The idea is that the 10.4 category will only be applied to those hints that are clearly 10.4-only -- spotlight, automator, etc. If something might work on 10.3, I'll test it on both -- I'm going to keep a 10.3 box here just for that purpose for a bit.

I completely agree about the graylines theme... it would be nice to have a darker gray background, rather than the white.

Perhaps if you moved the "10.4" in front of the "system" (possibly separating them with a colon) people might parse it a bit better and not freak out so much. It should be a fairly quick change too... |
