localhost connection problem
I can't get this tool to connect to my local databases. It connects fine to remote database servers, but I can't connect using localhost or 127.0.0.1
localhost connection problem
I think you might be having the opposite problem from me. I always connect to MySQL from my Mac using ssh to forward ports. When I told the MySQL Administrator tool to connect to "localhost", it tries to use the socket in /tmp no matter what, even though I'm not running MySQL locally, haven't asked it to use the socket, and I've specified a non-default port number. I finally got it to connect (sort-of) by using "127.0.0.1" instead of "localhost", but it still seems to be confused about which machine it's talking to. For example, it says the server is stopped, and it looks for an error log based on my local hostname. Looks like the tool still needs some work. Anyway, maybe you would have better luck connecting to "localhost", since you actually are running a local instance.

Same error here. :(
localhost connection problem
I have similar problems, but a different error msg:
localhost connection problem
Check the version of MySQL you're running. I just realized I'm running version 3.23 (for legacy purposes) and the client shows as only compatible with MySQL 4.0 and up. This could be the cause of the problem. (I get the same error, too.) |
