I am about to display my relatively paltry knowledge of Unix--I have no idea if this will work, but give this a try in Terminal:

sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions

...then restart the Mac.

This is sometimes (always?) needed after you do the sort of extension moving you did, and also after trashing cache files (or just /System/Library/Extension.kextcache, /System/Library/Extensions.mkext, and /System/Library/Caches/ to reset the cache info.

Somebody set me straight if I'm imagining things.
