Reset fan behavior after 10.3.8 update
I'm sure Rob is very busy so not hearing about the fan problems with 10.3.8 is understandable. This hint may work, but all I did to make the fans go back to near normal on my Rev. A Dual 2.0 G5 was to change the Energy Saver > Options > Processor Performance: to Highest. For some reason the update changed it to Automatic and with that setting my fans are all over the place for simple tasks like scrolling web pages. Now back on Highest everything is at least acceptable in terms of fan noise, although I will admit that I don't believe it is the same as before the OS update.
Reset fan behavior after 10.3.8 update
I have the same model Mac as you and I tried the same "fix." My complaint is that setting the processor performance to highest results in a quiet, but constant chirping of the power supply. So in my case, I have a trade off between a constant quiet noise or an intermittent very loud fan noise. I chose to put up with the fan noise until the next revision of the OS comes out. |
