Modifying Applescripts

If you want to make the scripts from previous days (like these) work in Safari instead of Firefox (or whatev), replace:

	tell application "firefox"
		OpenURL googleMaps & addressURL
		activate
	end tell
with:

	tell application "Safari"
		open location googleMaps & addressURL
		activate
	end tell
Hurray! I love Google Maps!

Now that google maps work with Safari there is no need to specify a particular web browser. The call should be genericized to bring up your default web browser.

Unfortunately I do not remember how to do this. I believe it was tell application "System Events" or something like that but going through it's dictionary didn't reveal any URL handling capabilities.

Can anyone clarify this?

I was able to get it to work using

tell application "Dock"
open Location <URL>
end

Yeah. Seems openURL seems is not compiling for Safari or anything other than Firefox.... By the way, the following part
		tell application "System Events"
			open location googleMaps & addressURL
			activate
		end tell
works as well.

Thank you for posting this! I was trying to change the script myself, but I didn't have the patience to figure out why it wouldn't compile by just replacing "firefox" with "safari".

I used your script block, works great!
