To trick an LCD to run at higher resolution than is native!

While I don't think this hack alone will enable you to "see" your PowerBook running 1920x1200, combining it with the kewl screensharing VNC client in ARD 2.1 (and possibly other VNC servers, but I'm not to familiar with those) it might be possible.

I use ARD on my iBook to connect to Macs running much higher resolutions than my meager 1024 x 768. I've dreamed of tricking my iBook into thinking it was running a higher resolution somehow (possibly through the external video port?) and then connecting to itself...

But I really have no idea how to make this work. Still, it would be a useful feature - another kind of "virtual desktop" which is so sorely lacking natively in OS X.
