Old Keynote Image Library and Extracting from a Keynote 1 CD

Two related tips:

First, I found Keynote 2 doesn't have the Image Library that the original Keynote included. These were a series of of Keynote presentations with useful "clip art" (in quotes because they were much better quality than most clip art and even included some clips with alpha-channeled transparency). Anyway, these were stored in the top-level Library:

Library/Application Support/Keynote/Image Library/

There are 5 presentations including, Chart Colors, Flags, Objects, Pictures, and Symbols & Borders. If you installed Keynote 2 on top of the original Keynote you probably already have them there (though a lot of people don't know about them), to use them just double click them and they will open in Keynote 2, if you don't have them you can copy them over using the same tecnique discribed below.

The second tip is kind of obvious for some users, but I'll mention it just in case . I didn't have the original Keynote installed when I installed Keynote 2 but I do have the original Keynote on CD. Instead of re-installing the original Keynote from the .pkg file on the disc, I opened it up with Pacifist (from CharlesSoft) and extracted both the missing themes mentioned in the tip and the Image Library presentations I mentioned above). I found that the themes weren't stored in the same place inside the .pkg file however. Instead they were stored in:

Keynote.app/Resources/English.lproj/Themes/

It may be that Apple changed this location in later revisions however (I have a 1.0 install disc). Obviously, if you want different language versions make sure to copy the correct files from the appropriate .lproj folder.
