Sounds like a nice trick, but couldn't you just use the Finder? Pulling the movies off a camera is one thing; that was always a pain before and it makes sense that it's in iPhoto. But for files you've downloaded it would be just as easy to have folders within the Movies folder. The Finder will even play Quicktime movies in the Preview pane of column view.

Once we have Tiger, you'll be able to use the saved spotlight searches to make smart folders too.
