A workaround for audio input problems in 10.3

Not true. LineIn does NOT do the same thing because when you quit LineIn, the play-through no longer works (as it used to do with Audio MIDI Setup). I don't want to have to run a special app when I want to listen to the radio through my computer's hooked up sound system. Nor do I want to change the wires every time. So right now, I'm trying to locate an old version of Audio MIDI Setup, but I can't seem to find my 10.2 Software Restore disk. I hope I can find it.

Well shoot,

I installed the older version of Audio MIDI Setup on my 10.3.7 OS and the "Play Through" checkbox is greyed out and I can't figure out how to get it un-greyed-out. I searched and searched for a way to fix this problem to no avail, so I fanially called Apple because I'm still within my 90 days support period. I got transferred to a support specialist and he confirmed that they took out the play-through option in 10.3. He didn't know why, but he seemed to vaguely recall that it was interfering with some 3rd party applications. If you want it back (so that you don't have to run a special application to get it to work) so that it will work all the time, I suggest submitting a feature request to apple's feedback website.
