iBook Wireless Internet Sharing
Authored by: timstringer on Jan 17, '05 12:50:16PM

I have an iBook G4 with an Airport card. I've been trying to share my Internet service with a Windows XP computer that is connected to my iBook G4 via an Ethernet cable (I've tried both standard and cross-over cables). Unfortunately I haven't had any luck getting this to work. I doubled checked to make sure the firewall on my iBook G4 was disabled. Any suggestions?

I assume you have Windows Sharing turned on in the Sharing preferences?

You don't need crossovers with an iBook.

I think if you don't configure the IP address of a network card be it Airport or Ethernet it'll default to 10.0.2.1 if a network is detected. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this.
So make sure you configure the IP addresses on both the win and mac correctly and make one of them look for default router of the other i.e the win machines default router is the IP address of the macs ethernet card.

Then turn on sharing to allow sharing of ethernet connected computers.
