Can't pair Jabra 250 Headset with PB G4
Authored by: DBG on Jan 15, '05 04:04:27PM

I have an early 17" PB G4 1mHz and am trying to set up a Jabra 250 headset to use with Skype. I have the newest upgrades (Bluetooth 1.5 and Firmware Updater 1.2) installed, but it still doesn't seem to work. When I use the Bluetooth Setup Assistant, it can find the phone, but when I press "Continue" I get the message, "Failed to set up the headset. Headsets are not supported on your Bluetooth hardware." Is it really a hardware question? Did Apple change the hardware at some point and, if so, is it possible to get an upgrade? I called Apple Support and they were less than helpful. I don't have a bluetooth cell phone and bought the headset soley for this purpose. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I got this same error with my Jabra BT200 and my iBook G4 with built-in bluetooth. Oddly, I did have the headset paired before, but was trying to repair it. Not sure if some update broke it or what. If anybody else knows anything, I'd love to hear.

Update your firmware with the latest from the Apple website. It will then work

Authored by: Joshlipe@mac.com on May 23, '05 09:03:01PM

Information on my Bluetooth software/setup issue:

I cannot seem to pair my Motorola HS820 headset. When I choose Headset as the device option, it automatically displays the message:

'Failed to set up with the headset. Headsets are not supported on your Bluetooth hardware.'

The headset is found if I select the 'Any device' option and perform a search... but again, when I select the device to continue, it displays the same message.

Snap, I'm mad. How the heck do I get this to work?

Details on my software version/firmware version:

u have old firmware version in your bluetooth. version 526 is not good for mac headset support. u need to update firmware with apples firmware update app. that is only way to have headset bluetooth suport on macs. if your bluetooth device (usb key?) cant be updated with apples firmware app u will not be able to use headset with it. u wil need to buy new bluetooth usb key.

If hav ea jabra bt200 and it will works with OS X.
Just make an bluetooth pairing with your headset.

That moment the software will give you the information that it will not work.
You still have to install your headset. Open system preferences and open bluetooth.
There you can install the jabra as a headset.
Go to the prefs from skype and set in and out to the jabra.

Simpel as that it is.

It will works very well.
