I've been doing this since FCP 3 without problems...
Is this hint for people using FCP 2.X or something? I've never had problems bringing FCP clips with DVD chapter markers into iDVD. iDVD always respects my chapter markers. Of course, with iDVD 2, there was no chapter support, but starting with iDVD3 FCP clips with chapter markers were supported (source: Final Cut Express and Final Cut Pro: Chapter Markers Require iDVD 3). There's even documentation on Apple's website that explicitly states the steps necessary to bring chapter markers from FCP to iDVD: Final Cut Express & Final Cut Pro: How to export a movie with chapter markers for iDVD. Unless this hint is for some version of FCP before v3.02 or something, I don't understand what is special about this hint. ---

What's special about this hint is that most people make normal markers with the M key. If you don't specifically create CHAPTER markers, the markers will not transfer. (Meaning you have to actually open up the marker dialog and set chapters.)

What's wrong with opening up the dialog and naming your chapter marker?

The hint says to do as you describe, but it doesn't say it clearly enough, I suppose. The author says one should edit the markers in FCP. Maybe the author didn't realize that two pokes of the 'm' key will bring up the Marker dialog box.
iMovie doesn't export non-DV codecs...
What's more, say you're an animation student making a demoreel. |
