How about utilizing Rendezvous for Windows??
Authored by: btluczek on Dec 15, '04 08:29:36AM

I currently have Macs running 10.3.6 and Windows XP machines on my network at home. I wanted my Windows machines to print to my HP 4215 Officejet that is connected to my Airport Extreme base station. I did some research and found a Technology Preview 3 of Rendezvous for Windows XP and 2000. Installed the software and stepped through the setup wizard and now my Windows XP machines are printing to my HP printer via my Airport base station. I have not tried Rendezvous printing to a printer that is connected directly to a USB connected printer on a mac, but Rendezvous may provide assistance for this situation as well.

You can download the Windows installer and SDK from Apple's Develper Connection site:

This information saved the day for me. I'm now printing from my XP PC via my ethernet network to my Canon MP530 connected to my iMac via USB. The link provided works great even though the software provided is now the latest version of a Bonjour Printer Wizard for Windows.

I tried telling the software to load the wizard to try to use the MP530 driver. But that did not work. So I deleted the printer setup that did not work, used the Bonjour Wizard to again identify my printer, then just accepted the default generic printer driver it first offers. That worked very well for me. Prints black and white as well as good color.
